1. The Foundation & Timeline

Strictly speaking, a last-moment thinking of writing JRF on agronomy will be a poor choice considering its huge syllabus.

Consistency Over Cramming: Avoid gaps in your study routine. Successful candidates often push their study time to 7–8 hours daily in the final four months to cover the vast syllabus.
The “Night-Before” Plan: Instead of a rigid one-year schedule, create a specific study plan every night before bed for the following day to stay disciplined.
Note-Taking Strategy: Highlighting key points directly in standard books and only writing down difficult names, formulas, or propagation methods separately is a highly effective method.
Why Mock Tests Matter: Mock tests simulate the real NTA exam pressure, pinpoint your weak areas, and crucially, train you to manage time and 1/4 negative marking perfectly.

The exam consists of 120 questions (480 marks) with a 1/4 negative marking penalty.

For weed management, prepare for crucial questions on problematic and aquatic weeds, often tested in matching columns. For problem soils, deeply understand the chemistry, characteristics, and reclamation processes.
